TOPIC: Advice for MLIS Students

Advice for MLIS Students 9 months 1 week ago #467

I came across this blog post regarding advice and tips for MLIS students and was hoping to get some feedback from others. Is there any other advice that you can add to this list for an MLIS student that might be helpful? A lot of these really ring true with me as I am getting closer to graduation.

This is a great article. Some of it is easier said than done - there are some weeks when managing my time productively and getting enough sleep are not equal possibilities! - but overall I agree that it rings true.

One thing I hadn't thought much about was my social network presence. I'm very careful to keep my Facebook presence something I'm not ashamed of, although it's definitely on the casual side of professional. But I made a LinkedIn profile years ago that I haven't touched in at least a year. How important is LinkedIn to employers? Should I keep my information current and try to expand my network? Or are they just looking to see that I don't have any immature, embarrassing moments on Facebook? What do you think?
