TOPIC: Pinterest and Academia!

Pinterest and Academia! 8 months 3 weeks ago #479

What is Pinterest and why should I know about it? Pinterest allows you to add images, videos, and other objects that you discover online to a virtual pinboard. They have more than 10 million users and have been called “2012’s hottest website”.

Why it is important for academic and research libraries? The potential for content sharing, service enhancements, opportunities for collaboration and PR make this a worthwhile resource to use and explore. ALA/ACRL is having a 90 minute webcast regarding Pinterest and their impact on libraries and information technology trends as well as projects to try at your library. The webcast will be on Sept 18th, 2012 11a.m. Pacific; 12:00 p.m. Mountain; 1:00 p.m. Central; 2:00 p.m. Eastern. For more information about the webcast click here.
